So lots of people have asked us how much this is going to cost. We're a bit reluctant to answer the question but to inform anyone that is considering this themselves this might be educational.
So originally we thought 10k was enough, but no. After running some numbers we decided to double it.
Here's how it breaks down:
Start with $20,000
Flights we estimate at $3000
Insurance: $600
We figure $30/day is doable as an average ($10 is plenty in many places, whereas $40 is doable in Europe, remember we're not living like kings!).
Shots/Backpacks/Getting drunk in Scotland at New Years etc.. comes to around $1000
This gives us between $4000 and $5000 for emergencies and to get our butts home.
